Unprecedented: adjective, without previous instance; never before known or experienced

We are living in unprecedented times.

Have you heard this phrase recently?

Everyone in Ontario is wondering what next year might look like for our children’s education.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the path were clearly defined?  While we might not know exactly what education will look like in September, we know that our children need to keep moving forward with their learning.  Now, more than ever, parents recognize the importance of a good education.

At Home Learning: Fractions in the Toy Box

Our plan at March Academy is to continue to serve families as we always have for the past 17 years.  We believe that we are well positioned to meet the needs of today’s children for many reasons.

Our school is small; our classes are small – and we have always liked it this way.  Our size affords us the opportunity to meet your child where they are.  We recognize that each child has unique strengths.  We use these strengths to instill a sense of confidence in each student.  Our small size means that we can get to know our students well in order to address specific gaps in their learning.  Similarly, we can motivate and extend learning in areas where your child excels.

We are resourceful and we persevere.  Learning at-home is challenging for everyone.  We are continually learning from our students and families about what works for them.  Our teachers are experienced and flexible in their thinking which allow us to adapt to many situations.  Through this collective creativity and partnership with parents, we are confident that we can move our successful online learning model back to our regular day-school environment as the situation unfolds month by month.

The whole child is valued at March Academy.  Reading, writing and mathematics are, and always will be, fundamental skills.  As educators, we will never use sight of the importance of visual arts, music, movement, health and physical education, the scientific method and learning about the world, our community, each other and ourselves.  During these times, we have worked hard to address all of these curriculum areas in our distance learning activities and we will continue to do so moving forward.

At March Academy we are happy to say, “We got this!”  We will continue to be here to support families.  Connect with us at March Academy to learn more about our unprecedented education during these unprecedented times.  www.marchacademy.ca
